Throughout the entire exhibition “Testimony”, MMOMA, 2018, 5 performances were shown. It was a full-fledged performance lasting a month. The performances were not just a part of the exhibition program, but a continuation and development, an additional dimension of the actual exposition. During the performances, the exhibition became a living space for the Angel of History.
The Angel of History (usually alone sometimes together with the Migrant) slept, played soccer and “biryulki”, read Benjamin right in the halls of the museum and in the outdoors installations, using the exhibits and installations on display. Almost the only spectators of these actions were the technical staff of the museum — caretakers, security guards, cleaners and installers. But conceptually, they were also part of the exhibition. So the performances were completely alone. As they would say today, “in isolation.”
